Ampney Crucis Investigates...

An early 1900s period drama, where Ampney is something of an occult Poirot up against inter-dimensional threats, but often seems as if he's not really in control: it's more his attitude than his aptitude that gets him through.

Edginton's "Wheel of Worlds" multiverse has several narrative links here, as well as a nomenclatural relationship with Brass Sun and it's wheel of worlds mega-structure. Narratively, the martians land on Horsell Common (as with the martians from War of the Worlds who are also depicted in Scarlet Traces). Professor Toten is an antagonist who also exists in The Red Seas. He is trying to bridge worlds to serve an other-dimensional being he refers to as Leviathan. The creatures of the hell dimension, like those in Stone Island, attack en masse uttering their "KHIII" war-cry, but visually and narratively they are different, so perhaps this is a coincidence. Finally, there is direct visual reference to the world of Stickleback.
